Lots of kale, salad, potatoes, tomatoes, asparagus, carrots, radish, chard, broccoli, leek, onion, mugwort, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, service berries.
At last a few notes from our last visit.
You had asked me about a planting calendar a long time ago, and here is one of my favorites from Adaptive Seeds. There is a lot of good winter garden info on there. The asparagus info from Steve Solomon's excellent book is so long I will maybe text it to you as pictures instead of typing it all here. But if that doesn't work, let me know and I will summarize it by email. It would be amazing to have a big asparagus patch! I love my nettle patches but they don't mesh as well with berries etc. I hope that young rabbit is earning his keep! Lost 2 brown ones and a mixed (acorn squash, butternut's favorite) to predation. I felt something was up and couldn't find Butternut around the house. I went down to the creek and found a lot of feathers and a still warm chicken carcass with no head. I was worried for Butternut, our rooster, but found him on a tall big cedar stump overlooking the scene. He was sure happy to see me and flew down feeling safe and running back to his flock telling them all about what happened. I would like to understand chickens and hear his story. We set up trail cams but didn't get any clues who took our chickens. Coyote, bobcat, raccoons are all in our backyard and possibilities. There is only one witness. Only butternut knows...
